Splitting the PS4 Zombie Walkers Mod
There seems to be two types of users of the PS4 version of the mod. Some want more zombies and some want less. To accommodate the latter, I have moved spawn replacements into a separate optional mod and made the main mod much smaller in scope in that it just transforms Feral Ghouls to Zombies (to the extent possible without scripting).![]() |

In the event Bethesda and Sony ever agree to allow external assets (specifically custom scripts), I will migrate the main version of the mod to PS4 and deprecate the PS4 version and the replacements spin-off.
I've received a lot of requests for more zombies and more replacements on PS4. I can accommodate those requests through addition plugin mods for replacements, but the extra spawns is very tedious without a generic scripted approach.
I have 8 version of this mod across 3 platforms now. The user comment threads are difficult to keep up with at this point and I've even being tagged in social media comments on YouTube. It is satisfying to create something that so many people seem to enjoy, but it is at the same time a bit overwhelming trying to keep up with it all.
In the short term, I'm going to focus my efforts on mod consolidation starting with the deprecation of the XBox/PC Ambush Replacements mods. The next blog post may be a recap of the new approach to replacements that I'm hoping will make this possible.

There seems to be a problem w/ this version where instead of your Romero zombies spawning it's just feral ghouls. Everything else in the mod works great though
ReplyDeleteThis is intended as a plugin to the base mod. Make sure you are using both of them together if you aren't already.
ReplyDeleteI have a problem. I downloaded the two mods replace creatures and super mutants but they still here. I enabled the mods of course, and made them first of my loading order, disabled any other mods which concern creatures and it still doesn't work

Kizen - Others have reported problems getting spawn replacements to start working when installing the mod and loading a pre-existing save game. The best I can offer right now is trying to get the game to reload the area (cells) you are in which isn't an exact science. You can try fast travelling far away and back, sleeping for 7-20 days in an interior location, or look into mods that advertise reducing cell reset time (someone mentioned one with mixed reviews, but I don't know the name).

DeleteDoesn't work... I sleeped for 30 days in a closed barn I made, I disabled survival and fast travel hundred times accross the map, and I didn't find any mod which reset the cells

The interior needs to be a separate cell meaning there's a load screen to get there. One example is the sanctuary basement.

DeleteHi, I download the mod for ps4 and is very great but I find 2 issues. If you can repair it, the mod will be awessome. Molerats remplacement are bugged for me, they respawn without heads or invisible heads and the supermutants doesnt remplaces. Please fix it and you makes me very happy.Thanks for do this and sorry for my bad english.
ReplyDeleteThe way I have to do replacements for PS4 is a bit buggy for pre-existing games. I've heard they tend to work better for brand new games and some people have not had issues. I'm not sure what else to recommend at this point, but will advise if I come across something that might help.

ReplyDeleteIt seems strange that it won't work even with a brand new game (Starting in pre-war sanctuary). Maybe try uninstalling all the Zombie Walker mods and re-downloading them. Then try a brand new game?
ReplyDeleteOk, so playing it on PS4, in my case they are named as Zombies, they don't have the quick attack as the Feral Ghouls but the dodge bullets like ninjas and jump straight to your face and kill you at the very first hit, that's not too Romero-like. I'm trying to start a new Survival game with Zombie Walkers, Creature Replacements and Immersive Gameplay. And can't get out of the Vault 111, after the first two radroaches (that still appear, like in vanilla), I have to face these 4 Nazgûl-like Zombies (one of them looks like a Supermutan Zombie BTW), but no way to kill them before one of them does the same quick move and kills me in a fraction of a second.
ReplyDeleteI did play before with both ZW and Immersive Gameplay in my long runing non-survival main game and the zombies where old school ones, slow, clumsy, killable and so much fun. Then both mods got updates and Creatures/Supermutan Replacement split from ZW.
I mean, I know there's a difference of armour, character attributes and perks but the zombies did't behave like that at all, I could dismember them off out of a security baton and now not even emptying a whole 10mm clip (and some headshot included too).
Is this meant to be like that?
No, it's not meant to be like that. I'm not that familiar with what Immersive Gameplay changes exactly (or what might have updated). You could try putting my mods after (below) the Immersive Gameplay mod in the load order so that my changes take precident. I didn't change anything to the core zombie behavior when I split the mods, so this to me sounds like a mod conflict.

ReplyDeleteIs it possible for you to make a version of the "Zombie Walkers:Replace Creatures" mod that only replaces all the insects and excludes mirelurks, yao guai, mutant hounds, and wild mongrels? Great mods though. Keep up the good work.
